Giakoumakis ‘could now leave’ according to Fabrizio Romano

Journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has claimed that Giorgos Giakoumakis has been linked with many clubs, and could now leave Celtic during this transfer window.

In recent weeks, we have seen speculation that Giorgos Giakoumakis may be leaving Celtic, after a solid stint at Parkhead, with 25 goals from 56 appearances. The latest update on the Greek striker indicates that his time at Parkhead may be limited, and we may see his exit shortly.

Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to provide an update on Giakoumakis, saying…

The loss of Giakoumakis would be a sad one for Ange Postecoglou, as the Greek has proved himself a clinical finisher and a useful asset in the Celtic attack. However, with the possible new arrival of the south-Korean striker, Cho Gue-Sung, Ange will have swiftly replaced the void created by Giakoumakis’ exit. Competition for space in Ange’s starting eleven has never been higher, as Ange has continued to sign players this transfer window, further strengthening the squad. It is possible that Giakoumakis is looking for more consistent game time, which he may not get in Paradise, with the likes of Kyogo, Maeda, and potential Gue-Sung all competing against him for the centre-forward position.
