Celtic tipped to land £26m ace for free after being dazzled with his performance vs Rangers

Celtic will always struggle to compete financially with the bigger clubs when it comes to signings, but recent history could start to play into their favour.

Traditionally a player will always follow the money and move to the biggest clubs, but youngsters are starting to see clubs stockpile talents with the hope that a few make it, so it’s not always a good career move.

A look at Celtic shows players like Jeremie Frimpong, Moussa Dembele, Kristoffer Ajer and Odsonne Edouard who have established themselves in the first team and now look ready to step up.

That’s a real selling point for Celtic just now, and HITC have tipped them to make another promising signing.

They suggest that Celtic have been following Atletico Madrid Rodrigo Riquelme ever since he impressed against the Rangers in the UEFA Youth League, and  this could be an interesting Summer for the youngster.

The report states that he has a release clause of £26m, but his contract is running out and that means Celtic could sign him for free if they can convince him to sign.

He has made an appearance for Atleti’s first team, but it doesn’t look like he’s close to making a regular breakthrough.

They also say that Celtic would have to fight off competition from clubs like Real Madrid, Valencia and Ajax, but their history of developing talents and allowing them to go on to the highest level means a move to Glasgow could be possible.
