There are multiple areas of the team that will need to be strengthened in the summer, but the defence looks like a pretty good place to start.
Shane Duffy hasn’t worked out at all so he’ll surely be going back to Brighton, while some extra defensive cover has been lost in Hatem Abd Elhamed too.
Nir Bitton can play at the back but that doesn’t neccessarily mean that he should, while there will also be fears that Kristoffer Ajer may leave if a big offer comes in.
That means that quality and quantity may be needed, so bringing in a Polish international who’s doing well in Serie A would be a good start.

The name Pawel Dawidowicz may be recognised by some fans as he was linked in the summer, but reports from Italy have now indicated that Celtic will reignite that interest in the summer.
It’s suggested that Celtic did make an enquiry in the summer but it didn’t go beyond that stage, but they are now willing to make an actual approach after an impressive season for Hellas Verona.
They’re currently 9th in the table and have a solid defensive record of only just conceding more than a goal a game, while Dawidowicz has played a part in 17 of their 21 games so he’s been a big part of that.
He can play in either CB role or in a holding midfield position if needed so that versatility would also be welcome, so he looks like he should be a solid addition if they do bring him in.
