It’s probably lazy reporting, but it’s incredible how often a player will be linked with both Celtic and the Rangers whenever a transfer window opens.
The latest offering comes from The Sun, with both teams being credited with an interest in Brest’s Algerian international midfielder, Haris Belkebla.
The 26 year old has impressed in Ligue 2 for years, before finally getting a chance in the top flight when Brest were promoted last season.
He’s also forced his way into the national team and looks like an intriguing prospect, and his ability to handle the step up in quality last season is a positive too.

The report suggests that the Rangers are heavily interested but their offer wasn’t enough to tempt Brest to sell, and now Celtic have come in with a better one.
It’s suggested that Celtic’s offer is much more tempting to Brest’s board, and the player is keen to play abroad so this could be good news for Neil Lennon if he wants to add him to the squad.
He contributed no goals or assists in 23 games last season and looks like a sitting midfielder who won’t contribute much in attack, but that could be a useful option in the bigger games.
It’s a bit worrying that he’s most famous for being sent home from Algeria’s AFCON squad for getting his bum out on a Fortnite stream, but that shouldn’t have any impact on a transfer.
Nothing has been agreed yet, but it sounds like Celtic are in pole position if they want him.
