Celtic top worn in advert for Catalan independence party, Serie A boss hits out at Lazio ‘delinquents’

GAETANO MICCICHE, the President of Serie A, has hit out at the Lazio Ultras whose disgraceful fascist antics in Glasgow last Thursday has shamed and embarrassed Italian football. And Serie A’s top official has told the Lazio fans to behave themselves when Celtic come to Rome early next month.

Lazio have already hit out at their own fans for their behaviour in Glasgow which included hundreds of them walking through the centre of Glasgow making their Roman Fascist Salutes. UEFA aren’t likely to deal with this matter this time around because it happened well away from the stadium, although there might be footage of them repeating this offensive salute inside Celtic Park.

Around 12,000 Celtic fans are expected to travel to Rome for the return match in this double header which takes place on Thursday 7 November.

“I believe the people of Glasgow deserved greater respect than to see that. All these delinquent young men who generate negativity and hatred must be fought and punished,” Gaetano Micciche told the media, as reported by Scottish Sun.

“We must do all we can to get these people away from anything to do with football. Serious and grave sentences must be handed to them.

“What is disappointing is that we have always tried to be at the forefront of eliminating episodes of racism and extremism in Italian football.

“It annoys me even having to talk about incidents like this. We have a series of initiatives, not least to create our own anti-racism team and we have got every player at a Serie A club to fight against racism.

“Something has to happen against those who commit these acts and I hope we do not see this even again.”

The Celtic supporter appears to be a beacon for anti-fascism and that’s something we can all be proud of. Have a look at these tweets…
