Celtic transfer news: A new contract for Edouard, £4.5m rated defender lined up and a return for Kieran Tierney?

Although nothing has really happened in the past week from a Celtic point of view, there are plenty of stories which suggest good news could be on the way.

Firstly Kristoffer Ajer’s change in agent seems to have killed off most of the speculation surrounding him, while now it also sounds like Odsonne Edouard won’t only be staying, but he might sign a new contract too.

The other main priority from a retention point of view is Fraser Forster, but there’s still nothing to suggest that his future has been sorted out at this point.

There always seems to be talk of a new striker and it’s fair to say that neither Bayo or Klimala have impressed so far, so Livingston striker Lyndon Dykes is the latest to be linked, however he might be costly.

Even if Ajer does stay the squad needs at least one new centre-back to make up for the loss of Jozo Simunovic.

Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed could fill in, but that would be worrying as a long term option so it sounds like Celtic might return to the French market which has served them well recently.

A report has linked them with a potential £4.5m move for Troyes defender Kiki Kouyate, while we may also be seeing the first impact of Brexit on football as a dream move to England seems unlikely due to new work permit legislation.

Finally it’s always nice to end on some wishful thinking, so here’s an overview of why it’s in Arsenal’s best interests to send Kieran Tierney home for a season.
