Celtic v Dundee – referee given first appointment at Celtic Park

Celtic face Dundee on Saturday afternoon as Cinch Premiership action returns. The Scottish Champions went into the International break following a 1-0 win away to Rangers at Ibrox, which maintained Celtic’s place at the top of the league.

Earlier this week, The SFA confirmed the refereeing appointments with Grant Irvine being confirmed as the man in the middle. Irvine is assisted by Dougie Potter and David Dunne with Iain Snedden acting as Fourth Official. Across at Clydesdale House, Steven Kirkland is on VAR with Gary Hilland on AVAR.

Irvine has never managed a Celtic game but is seen as an up-and-coming referee. It will be interesting to see how he handles the occasion as he will certainly be someone that referees a number of our games moving forward.

Hopefully, the referee isn’t the talking point and he doesn’t aid the visitors by breaking up Celtic’s flow in the game.

Elsewhere, Brendan Rodgers has hinted that a few Celtic players could make their debut with Nat Phillips, Luis Palma and Bernardo all in contention to be involved.
