Celtic v Glasgow City – First Match Back is SWPL Title Showdown and it’s Live on BBC Alba

Celtic FC Women have confirmed that their first match back after the Scottish Government enforced suspension of the SWPL will be the home match against title rivals Glasgow City on Sunday 4 April at K-Park in East Kilbride and the crucial match will be shown live on BBC Alba with a kick-off time of 4.10pm.

“Great news as it’s confirmed that our first game after the restart will be LIVE on BBC Alba” the Celtic FC Women’s twitter account tweeted. Celtic are one point adrift of both Glasgow City and theRangers having played both title rivals away from home. Two home wins should set up our Ghirls in Green for the league title. COYGIG….

Celtic lost the opening match of the season to Glasgow City, going down 2-0 but recorded a significant win at theRangers Training Centre against theRangers, winning 1-0 with a last minute penalty. If you think that’s surprising the referee decided to award the spot kick after the ball was already in the back of theRangers net. Thankfully there was no mistake from Summer Green whose ferocious penalty into the roof of the net ensured Fran Alonso’s exciting Celtic side…

Celtic lost a few of the overseas stars due to the pandemic situation in Scotland with Summer Green returning to The States and the two Spanish ghirls also returning to their homeland. However Fran Alonso was busy in the transfer market at the end of January brining in the likes of Izzy Atkinson, Anna Fibley and Jacynta Galabadaarchchi as replacements.
