Celtic v Hibernian: Ange provides injury update on Jota and Abada

Ange Postecoglou delivered an injury update ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s Cinch Premiership clash against Hibs. The third-placed visitors from the capital come into this game in a run of fine form, notwithstanding a defeat to Dundee United on Tuesday night.

After the disappointment of a defeat to RB Leipzig, despite Celtic having numerous chances, Ange will be hoping  that his team are able to bounce back with a win against the Easter Road outfit. Speaking to the media conference earlier, Ange stated that there were a number of injuries.

“Jota is still not available for tomorrow, and we are being conservative with him. We expect him to be back at training next week at some point.

Liel is fine he has trained. David Turnbull picked up a bit of a knock on his ankle, and he’s out for tomorrow, Stephen Welsh picked up a knock in training, so he is also out tomorrow. Everyone else is okay.”

Turnbull adds to a midfield area that is already light in terms of personnel. Callum McGregor is already injured until after the World Cup meaning that James McCarthy, Oliver Ablidgaard, Aaron Mooy and Scott Robertson may be required to step up tomorrow to lighten the load of Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate.

The manager has already said that he will not rush anyone back from injury unless they are 100% fit. Liel Abada’s return is encouraging, not least as it gives the manager another option as opposed to Daizen Maeda, who is clearly short of confidence just now.
