Celtic v Hibernian: Predicted XI as Forrest comes in, Kyogo starts

Celtic host Hibernian today in the Cinch Premiership. Ange Postecoglou saw his side lose against RB Leipzig despite creating a number of promising opportunities. He will be hoping that his team can be clinical in front of goal.

With Jota, Callum McGregor, Carl Starfelt, David Turnbull and Stephen Welsh out, the manager will need to decide on what XI he puts out as he wants to go five clear before Rangers play tomorrow.

Joe Hart will start in between the sticks. The defence will likely comprise of a central pairing of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Moritz Jenz. On the flanks, Greg Taylor and Josip Juranovic will likely start. The manager spoke yesterday about the leadership qualities of his full-backs along with stand-in skipper CCV.

Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley will likely start in the midfield with Sead Haksabanovic in the central, more forward role. Oliver Abildgaard, James McCarthy and Aaron Mooy will be on the bench looking to offer back up should they be required.

In attack, James Forrest came on during the week for Abada and looked sharp. We’d expect that he’s done enough to start on the right with Daizen Maeda playing on the left. The Japanese forward will be hoping to see remedy his issues in the final third with a performance this afternoon. Kyogo is expected to continue through the middle ahead of Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Predicted XI: Hart; Juranovic, Carter-Vickers, Jenz, Taylor; O’Riley, Hatate, Haksabanovic; Forrest, Kyogo, Maeda.

It would be promising to see Celtic bounce back today and increase the pressure on Giovanni Van Bronkhorst, who takes his side to Fir Park to face Motherwell tomorrow.
