Celtic v Motherwell – Steven McLean named referee, Dickinson on VAR

Celtic return to action this weekend as Motherwell visit Paradise. The International break saw Scotland draw the curtain on their successful UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifying campaign but focus will shift to the important matter of consolidating and building upon our lead at the top of the Cinch Premiership.

The SFA have confirmed that Steven McLean will referee the clash between the sides with David Roome and Steven Traynor working as Assistant Referees. They will be joined by George Calder, who will be conducting Fourth Official duties.

Meanwhile at Clydesdale House, David Dickinson has been appointed as the VAR Official and he will be assisted by Gary Hilland.

McLean has not taken charge of neither a Celtic game nor a Motherwell game this season but has refereed two Rangers games, including the 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen,

The teams played out an exciting game earlier in the season where three goals in nine minutes gave Brendan Rodgers’ side maximum points. Luis Palma struck with a shot from outside the box and it looked as if the Honduran’s strike had settled the matter. However, Blair Spittal equalised shortly afterwards to seemingly share the points. Celtic went back up the pitch a short time later and Matt O’Riley scored an excellent goal with a brilliant finish to put the game beyond doubt.
