Celtic v Rangers: Predicted starting XI for Glasgow Derby clash

Celtic will face Rangers tomorrow in the second Glasgow Derby of the season. One month after it was due to be played, Ange Postecoglou will send his team out into a capacity Celtic Park to face Giovanni Van Bronckhorst’s side knowing that a win will take the Celts top of the table.

With a number of players out, the manager could be forced to make some big decisions in terms of his starting XI.

In goals, Joe Hart is expected to continue. The Englishman, who has enjoyed a glittering career, is firmly Celtic’s number one goalkeeper and he will be hoping to be on top form if he is called upon.

In defence, we anticipate that Josip Juranovic and Greg Taylor will start in the full-back roles with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt partnering each other at the back.

The midfield probably offers up the manager’s biggest conundrum. Callum McGregor trained today but it remains to be seen whether or not the Celtic skipper will start in the Glasgow Derby. However, we think that he will line up beside January recruits Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate. James McCarthy will obviously be waiting in the wings in case McGregor doesn’t make it.

In attack, Giorgos Giakoumakis is expected to lead the line. The big Greek forward will likely be joined by Portuguese star Jota on the left and Liel Abada on the right.

Daizen Maeda came on for the last twenty minutes for Japan but is expected to be back in Glasgow tomorrow morning. It will be interesting to see the team lines tomorrow but here is the team as we see it being picked.
