Postecoglou says his depleted side can carry on impressive form

Ange Postecoglou has said that he hopes his side can carry on their impressive run of form with a win over Rangers, despite being without a number of key players. Tom Rogic, Daizen Maeda and Callum McGregor were just three of the Celts that missed the win over Dundee United

When asked at today’s media conference about how important momentum is, the manager instead made the point that his side have been suffering absences throughout the season and have still been able to pick up results.

“I think we have been on a good run for quite a while. We have had challenges all along and Dundee United was another one. The players fought all along to get the job done.

“That can only be a positive for us and we know we can improve. We don’t have the personnel at the moment and we have had to deal with some absences of players that we are still dealing with.

“The players have shown great resilience and determination irrespective of what the challenges are but they have been able to overcome it.”

Celtic will be without Tom Rogic, David Turnbull, Yosuke Ideguchi, Nir Bitton (suspension), Albian Ajeti, Kyogo Furuhashi as well as (potentially) Callum McGregor and Daizen Maeda too. All of which would’ve normally been involved in and around the first team.

Postecoglou took over in the summer with Rangers having won the league by 25 points. In that time, amidst a massive overhaul of players, the Australian has had to quietly build a team capable of competing on all fronts. The first piece of silverware was collected in December, thanks to a 2-1 win over Hibs but injuries have disrupted Celtic really hitting their full stride.
