Celtic v Rangers – Tom Rogic’s knee injury scare

CELTIC talisman Tom Rogic is in a race for fitness ahead of Sunday’s Glasgow Derby versus Rangers after it was revealed that the Australian was battling with a knee injury.

The classy-midfielder was a surprise omission from the Socceroos team ahead of international duty and the new manager, Graham Arnold, shed some light on the issue.

“Tommy has an ongoing knee issue that’s affecting his hamstring.”

“Nearly every game he’s played has only been 60 minutes and he’s coming off the bench. He’s having an injection directly after their game at the weekend that requires five to seven days rest – it’s a waste of time bringing him in, especially when our medical staff are all over what the injury is.”

Fortunately for Celtic fans, Rogic is expected to be fit when rookie manager Steven Gerrard and his new team visit Paradise, where they lost 5-0 on their last trip.

Arnold continued to thank Celtic for their cooperation surrounding Rogic’s injury; albeit it means that the Aussies will be without the 25-year-old for the training camp in Turkey.

“There’s been great communication between Celtic and our medical staff, so we know exactly what the issue is. I know Tom well after coaching him for a quite a while and it gives a great opportunity for us to look at other players.”

Don’t expect to see Rogic starting tonight against FK Suduva in the Europa League.
