Marvin Compper’s pay-off will be anything but cheap

MARVIN COMPPER is set to leave Celtic this week after failing to prove his fitness over an eight month period at the club.

The 33 year old German arrived in the January window from Leipzig, for a fee of £1million but he has managed to play just 83 minutes for Celtic – in a Scottish Cup tie at Celtic Park against Morton back in March.

After the recent league match against Livingston, members of the Celtic squad not involved in that game, came out for a light training session on the park and Compper joined in but lasted around ten minutes before limping off injured.

The stories we have heard from inside Lennoxtown are that Compper has never impressed Brendan Rodgers at any stage and that his injury problems so severe – effectively he is unable to run – that he’ll probably have to hang up his boots.
He’ll get a few bob for them on Ebay as they’ve hardly been worn!

Transfers can go wrong but this has been a particularly bad one for Celtic. On the back of two hammerings in the Champions League at the hands of PSG, Celtic tried to solve their central defensive weaknesses in that January window.

Compper and the under fire project signing Jack Hendry were brought in, with Celtic spending around £2.5million on this pair.

Hendry has tried his best but remains unconvincing while Compper has been written off as a complete waste of money.

Apparently the German is on an impressively large salary too, so the pay-off will be anything but cheap.

Who scouted him?
