Celtic v Spartans: team news, KO time and where to watch

Celtic FC Women take on Spartans at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie at lunchtime (kick-off 12noon) as Fran Alonso’s exciting side looks to maintain their 100% start to the season with a third win in a row after a 9-0 home win over Hibs then a 2-0 away win against Partick Thistle last weekend.

With theRangers opting to have their SWPL1 match scheduled for this afternoon, postponed due to their Champions League match in midweek, Celtic can use today’s encounter with the Edinburgh side who always seem to raise their game against Celtic, to get the three points and put some daylight between themselves and the current SWPL Champions.

Team News

Rachael Johnstone is out for the next couple of weeks, so joins Chloe Logan on the sidelines. It will be a home debut this afternoon for Celtics latest signing the vastly Mexican international goalkeeper Pam Tajonar, who joined the Hoops this week from Villarreal after playing last week against Partick Thistle as a trialist (due to paperwork issues).

Fran Alonso likes to rotate his squad so there could be a opportunity for Olivia Chance to make her first start of the season, after a delayed return for pre-season. Jacynta and Amy Gallacher will assist Clarissa Larisey in leading the line as Celtic look for goals.

Tiree Burchill has impressed in her first two starts at right wing-back and is likely to start and Lisa Robertson will be in the midfield engine room making sure everything is ticking over nicely for Fran Alonso’s side.

Kick-off Time

The Celtic v Spartans game kicks off at 12noon to allow Celtic supporters the chance to watch this exciting women’s team in action before making the short trip to Celtic Park for the Scottish Premiership match against Hearts which starts at 3pm. Please note that you can pay at the gate at the Excelsior Stadium today.
