Celtic want to sign £4m-rated striker, according to report

Celtic want to sign Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet ahead of the start of the season, according to a report. The Scottish Daily Mail are reporting that Ange Postecoglou is interested in signing the player that Hibs rate at £4m. The Easter Road outfit are willing to speak to parties after rejecting bids in January; however, Celtic may face competition for the deal to bring the 24-year-old to Paradise.

Nisbet is a big Celtic fan and was pictured with some Celtic players last week. The player will return to pre-season at Hibs but will be keeping an eye on his phone as the links to Celtic increase with the prospect of a dream move well and truly on the cards.

Postecoglou wants more signings as he targets a fast start to the league and the Champions League qualifiers, something that we have been deprived of for some time. Mario Vuskovic, Erik Sviatchenko and Matty Ryan have all been linked as potential signings in troubled positions but the club also need to address the futures of stars like Ryan Christie, Odsonne Edouard and Kris Ajer – all whom are in the final year of their contracts.

There had been a suggestion of a cash plus player swap for Nisbet with Leigh Griffiths heading in the other direction and that may yet occur after the 30-year-old signed a new deal; although, it is believed that Postecoglou will give Griffiths time to get himself firing after penning the extension yesterday.
