Celtic’s £1.5m Danish link could flush out Charlton in Doughty deal

CELTIC are being linked with a deal for Danish defender Casper Hojer as the Scottish Champions look to strengthen in the left-back position before the transfer window slams shut. The Aarhus defender has less than a year remaining on his contract and with just Greg Taylor, the need to get another player in the door is pressing.

Hojer has made 183 appearances in his career, scoring 14 goals and earning 27 assists with his performances down the left hand side of defence. After Bolingoli’s decision to go to Spain, Celtic were left with no choice but to get rid of him with a loan deal to Turkey.

The Daily Record are reporting that it would take £1.5m to bring the defender to Paradise. Neil Lennon has been eyeing a deal for Alfie Doughty but so far Charlton have held firm against their bids. The news could be a tactic by Celtic to leak that they are pursuing other options and that Doughty could be free to join the club on a pre-contract next year.

Celtic’s Head of Recruitment Gary Penrice was casting his eye over Bristol City’s Niclas Eliason. The 24-year-old can play at left-wingback and right winger – two positions which Celtic need to strengthen in as the window draws to its conclusion.

With a number of names linked, it will be interesting to see who Celtic get in as the transfer window edges towards shutting.
