Celtic’s £3.5m Palma being ‘seriously considered’ – Palma not only fits our strategy, he is first team ready

Celtic have today been linked with Honduran winger Luis Palma. The 23 year old winger is currently with Greek side Aris, who have confirmed Celtic bid is very close to their own financial expectations. ‘Aris Thessaloniki are seriously considering Celtic’s £3.5M offer for Honduran Luis Palma. The offer for the winger is close to that which the club is looking for in order to part ways with such a key player’ Everything Celtic report via Giannis Chorianopoulos.

Palma fits our transfer strategy of buying good young talent for a relatively low fee with hopes of making a profit further down the road. More importantly for the here and now, the Honduran international is also a decent player. He’s right footed but plays on the left and is just as comfortable on the right.

He had a decent return of 13 goals and 8 assists in 36 games in all competitions for the Greek side last season. That’s a decent return at a great level of football, the Greek league is of a good standard and arguably better than our own football. Did you watch Hibs getting schooled at Easter Road last night by Aston Villa?

Palma has also represented his country at full international level on six occasions with more caps likely to follow. As well as being a goalscorer, he can take players on and has something we’ve been missing for a while now, he is a threat at set pieces.

He is superb at dead ball delivery’s whether that’s from corners or free kicks. That in itself is a major plus. Signing Luis Palma might not whet the appetite of our support, but he’s a talented young player and one that can become a favourite at Celtic Park. For me it’s a step in the right direction.

  1. So…..this guy is better than Tillio….definitely, maybe or isn’t. Another stab in the dark if we sign him just to say we signed somebody.
