Jota could be offered alternative way out of Al-Ittihad by Steven Gerrard

It is being reported that former Celtic star, Jota could be offered an alternative way out of his current dilemma in Saudi Arabia at his club Al-Ittihad. The Portuguese winger only parted company with the Parkhead outfit a matter of weeks ago and has made the news lately as it’s thought his club wish to cut ties with the ex-Benfica youth player.

A blockbuster deal for Celtic when he left, Jota cost the Saudi Pro League side a cool £27 million and received a mammoth contract in the Middle East which is thought to be close to £200K per-week. He joined the ranks with the likes of superstar names such as Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante who joined Cristiano Ronaldo in that part of the world.

Recent reports have suggested that the players who joined Al-Ittihad are regretting the decision and that it’s not only Jota that is being considered for the chop under Nuno Espirito Santo. These reports have yet to be verified but it could very much make sense that they have all underestimated the realities of playing in a footballing backwater with the greatest of respect.

Now it has emerged that former manager of theRangers and Aston Villa, Steven Gerrard, could offer the player an alternative way out of his fellow Saudi Pro League opponents. Football Scotland via Alkaas.net have claimed that the Liverpool legend hopes to take the talented winger on-loan, which could spell bad news for any chance of a swift reunion from the Celtic support.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
