Celtic’s “A Club built for Erin” video, Green Brigade unfurl latest protest banner at Celtic Park

I suppose it is worthwhile for the Celtic support to remind ourselves what our club is all about and what it means to each and every single one of us and young Erin certainly achieved that in her recent poetry tribute to Scott Brown after his final game as Celtic captain at Celtic Park. She’s subsequently been recruited by the club’s marketing team to promote the season ticket campaign.

A petty shrewd idea, all things being even, and had Eddie Howe been appointed last week as Celtic expected then the reaction to this new video would you would suspect be completely different.

Yet Celtic’s marketing staff are tasked with selling the season tickets, this and the Christmas campaigns are among the most important parts of their jobs and it has to be remembered that they have zero to do with the football operation. Many will be supporters too and will feel the same way about ‘Celtic’ as you and I.

If you have a criticism it is fair to say that this should be directed at the Boardroom and as coincidence would have it, the Green Brigade unfurled their latest protest banner reminding Peter Lawwell that it’s 100 Days since Neil Lennon left the club and there’s still no sign of a new manager walking in the door at Celtic Park.

It’s quite remarkable when you consider that the need for a new manager probably goes back as far as October last year, some will say even earlier while a sizeable section will also argue that Neil Lennon should never have been given the job on a permanent basis, in the shower at Hampden.

This morning we reported on the rumour that the new look footballing department will have both John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan employed as coaches while Gordon Strachan will be the new DoF. If true that has the strategy of the outgoing CEO written all over it.

Shaun Maloney may well be added to that as a coach, although that would presumably happen after the season ticket campaign ends, and we could well have an announcement on the new manager early next week (so why not delay releasing Erin’s excellent video until then?)…ever get the feeling wee are going round in circles here?

Get the fundamentals right and the supporters will support the team. It is as simple as that. Oh and well played Erin!

Here is Celtic’s ‘A Club Built for Erin’ video and read through the comments to see what the supporters who have responded have had to say about it. Do they represent the majority view or are they just a noisy minority? Celtic can judge this for themselves by looking at the renewal levels.

And here is the Green Brigade protest banner and note that they are not allowing comments from the support, in the way that Celtic’s activity is open to criticism.
