Celtic’s Bluff and Double Bluff – Broony and Boss keep Hibs Guessing

SCOTT BROWN pitched up at the National Stadium yesterday and declared himself fit for tomorrow evening’s League Cup semi-final against Hibs. He’d come off in midweek in the second half of a 2-0 league win over St Mirren but seemed to be completely sure that he’d be fine and ready to lead the team at Hampden.

“I’m fine,” he said. “It was feeling a bit tight, but I came off and managed to do the cool down.

“I’ll train on Friday and I’ll be fine for the game. I know my body more than anyone and sometimes you know when it’s the right time to come off the park before you do any damage.

“It’s a huge week. We’ve had a lot of hard games and fatigue is going to kick in. It’s about doing what’s best for everybody for Saturday and focusing on the game.

“We have Lazio next week, but the focus is only on the semi-final. It’s a huge game. Hibs did really well against us at Easter Road and make it very difficult for us.

“We need to make sure we step up again.

“The appetite is still as strong as ever. You want to win every game and every trophy going.

“For me it’s about making sure we are in the cup final. We can’t look too far ahead as we were guilty of doing that in the past and blew up. The focus is on Hibs,” Broony said, as we reported earlier today on The Celtic Star.

So from that you would expect the skipper to be there in the tunnel at Hampden to lead out the Celtic team. But was he bluffing?

Neil Lennon spoke to the Media today and certainly cast doubt on his captain being fit for tomorrow’s semi-final.

“Brown’s struggling. He was out this morning so we’ll assess him tomorrow. Too early to say but he’s doubtful.

He is playing brilliantly, he is the captain and he knows how important these games are so we have to see how he is,” the Celtic manager revealed.

Also on the subject of our skipper, former Celt Virgil van Dijk has been speaking about Broony’s taste in music – house, trance, happy hardcore – that used to interrupt the big Dutchman’s afternoon naps! The Liverpool star, now regarded as the best defender in the world has been speaking about the Celtic captain whose DVD is released today.

This DVD charts the evolution of Scott Brown who speaks candidly about his time in Paradise, where he has won 19 trophies, including 17 as captain!

Meanwhile Celtic this afternoon have encouraged supporters to arrive early for the League Cup semi-final clash with Hibernian tomorrow, Saturday, November 2, (KO: 5:30pm).

Hampden Park has a new access control system in place and fans should arrive in plenty of time to avoid delays in entering the stadium.

Watch this video to see how to access the stadium using the new system – see HERE.
