Celtic’s first summer signing in London to complete medical

Vålerenga midfielder Odin Thiago Holm is in London today to complete a medical, with Celtic agreeing to pay a fee of £2.5 million for the 20-year-old.

It has been reported for numerous weeks now that the club had agreed personal terms with the player, with an agreement over the fee confirmed last week according to TV 2 Sport– E

The Norway U20 international had recently been on holiday in Spain which is the reason for the delayed medical.

The technically gifted 20-year-old was recently nominated for the European Golden Boy award for 2023, with his fellow nominees featuring world class talents such as Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid, Pablo Gavi of Barcelona and Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich.

Holm has started every game so far in the Norwegian Premier Division, featuring ten times in a struggling Vålerenga side who sit in 13th place, 6 points from bottom place Aalesund.

The agile midfielder broke into the first team at Vålerenga in the 2019/20 season, making 24 appearances, scoring two goals and registering one assist.

The Norwegian looks a significant coup for Celtic and hopefully follows the trend of successful Nordic players who have passed through the gates at Celtic Park.
