Celtic took another giant step closer to the title after a thrilling five star performance against Kilmarnock at Celtic Park yesterday afternoon…
There was brief hope this time last week that this game was going to be a title clincher, but unfortunately that was denied after we crashed to a sorrowful defeat in Perth last Sunday lunchtime.
A brilliant Celtic response
The players certainly owed the manager and supporters a reaction after that woeful effort at McDiarmid Park, and boy did they do just that by taking control of the game from the first whistle and racing into a four goal lead after 25 minutes.
The first and third goals respectively were both goal of the season contenders that was appreciated by the entirety of the home crowd inside Paraidse. The few hundred Killie fans less so, but at least they got a good view of these wonderful goals.
Reo Hatate’s opener was a cracking effort
Reo Hatate’s opener was a cracking effort that had goal written all over it the moment it left his foot, and CCV’s goal was even better as his long range effort hit the top corner with all the precision from the foot of a cultured playmaker.
It was good to see Reo who scored a brace, and CCV put in a good performance after having their character questioned in recent weeks.
The entire Celtic side were on top of their game
The entire side were on top of their game yesterday and that tempo and fluency was evident in our play especially the first half as we put on a flawless display, and even a superb consolation strike from Killie’s Danny Armstrong couldn’t dampen our joy.
The second half was a mere formality as Kilmarnock sat back and prayed for damage limitation, whilst Celtic just toyed with them happy with the three points, then right at the death Tony Ralston scored to give the game a scoreline it deserved.
It wasn’t to be a title clincher, but it was a five star performance and one step closer to four in a row, a satisfying day all round.

Celtic can be Champions today
An Aberdeen win over theRangers at Pittodrie today will mean that Celtic are the Champions of Scotland for the 13th time in 14 seasons – that’s an astonishing run of success that has never been achieved before in the Scottish game by any club, dead or alive.
The game from Pittodrie kicks-off a at midday and we can’t lose whatever happens. An Aberdeen win and we’re champions, any other result will let us win it ourselves.
PS it was nice to see so many Athletic Club supporters at the game yesterday, obviously deciding to stay in Glasgow a little bit longer to take in a Celtic game. They were given a tremendously warm welcome by the Celtic supporters who were all wishing them all the best for their second leg tie against theRangers on Thursday night in Bilbao.
