Celtic’s incoming £3m man David Turnbull is “destined for the top” but is it time up for Wizard of Oz?

David Turnbull, according to Michael Stewart on Sportscene is “a top, top player who is destined to go to the top of the game”. The popular pundit predicted that bids would be imminent for the midfielder who was the stand-out player in the Lanarkshire derby at the weekend and if reports are correct then that big money bid could be arriving at Fir Park over the next few days and it will be once again from Celtic.

“David Turnbull is a special talent, and one that doesn’t come around very often,” the former Motherwell striker James McFadden stated on Saturday’s BBC Sportscene.

“He’s got an aura on the pitch and I’m glad to see him back because he was out for a long time; the early end to last season has hopefully given him time to get his fitness and strength back, and I think Motherwell will reap the benefits.” Or maybe Celtic will.

Scottish Sun is reporting that just over a year after his £3million dream move to Celtic was frustrated by an unknown knee problem discovered at his medical for the club which took place down at Manchester, Turnbull is set to at long last become a Celtic player this week.

Celtic have watched Turnbull’s progress this season very closely with both Nick Hammond and Gavin Strachan watching the playmaker. And their reports have obviously been positive as Neil Lennon – a long-time admirer of the 21 year old Motherwell star – appears to have sanctioned another £3million bid which you would imagine community owned Motherwell simply could not refuse.

Newcastle Utd are the latest English club to be credited with an interest in the Scotland Under 21 playmaker but Celtic remains his preferred option and  that could also trigger Celtic selling Invincible legend Tom Rogic, who has fallen further down the pecking order in terms of selection due to injury frustrations and could now be heading to a lucrative deal in Qatar.

The transfer fee Celtic will get from selling the popular Australian will be more than enough to fund the Turnbull deal and by the time Motherwell line up against Celtic on Sunday David Turnbull could be playing for the Scottish Champions.
