Celtic’s Liam Scales included in SPFL Team of the Week

Celtic defender Liam Scales has been included in the SPFL Team of the Week after a dominating display in the Scottish Cup. Ange Postecoglou’s side won 2-1 away to Alloa Athletic with the Irishman picking up an assist as his excellent cross found Giorgos Giakoumakis to net the opener.

Despite Liel Abada’s terrific goal, Scales was the only Celt included in the Team of the Week this week. Although, Celtic will return to league action on Wednesday as they look to take all three points at Tynecastle.

Scales was signed from Shamrock Rovers in the summer and initially took his time to get minutes on the pitch, only making his league debut in December. The Irishman scored at Tannadice and has been working hard to prove to the manager that he is a capable, assured squad player.

Scales appears to be second to Greg Taylor in the manager’s estimations, having fought off opposition from Adam Montgomery and Boli Bolingoli. The challenge that the 23-year-old faces now is dislodging Taylor on the left flank.
