Murdo Macleod has posted his condolences to the family of his friend and former colleague at Celtic Wim Jansen who has sadly passed away, aged 75.
“So sad to hear the passing of my good friend Wim Jansen. A great player, a great manager. Thoughts are with the family. RIP Wim,” was the brief, yet poignant message this evening from Murdo Macleod, who was of course Wim Jansen’s Assistant manager in his one season as Celtic manager in season 1997-78 when the two of them delivered both the League Cup – for the first time in a decade and a half – and more importantly the League title to prevent Rangers winning Ten-in-a-Row.

Celtic meanwhile have announced that as you would expect that the players will be wearing black armbands tomorrow evening at Tynecastle as a mark of respect for our former manager and also that our club will organise our won tributes for Wim for Saturday’s match at Celtic Park against Dundee United.
Tributes have been flooding in all day for this Dutch legend of the game who made his mark at both a player and as a manager. For Celtic supporters though he will always be revered as the Man who Stopped the Ten.

The saddest of news today about a wonderful man who brought success to Rotterdam and Glasgow 30 years apart and will forever be a link between our two clubs.
All that and he gave us Henrik Larsson also.
Sleep in peace, Wim ❤️💚@marcelvo21 pic.twitter.com/a2BF24mHas
