Celtic’s line up vs Ferencvaros suggests the Ekubam rumours may be true after all

There have been plenty of rumours in the past few days which suggested that Celtic were set to bring in another striker, but it didn’t look necessary.

We all know that Eddy will start when he’s fit, while Ajeti and Klimala will act as back ups when needed, so adding another striker didn’t seem likely.

You might think differently after seeing Celtic’s line up vs Ferencvaros tonight, as Lenny has gone without a recognised striker in the starting XI:

It appears that Edouard is injured so that explains his absence, but the presence of Ajeti and Klimala on the bench suggests that Lenny doesn’t trust either of them just now.

The Hungarian side are decent and this will be a challenge, but they certainly aren’t at a level where Celtic need to go without a recognised striker in a home game.

It’s possible that Ajeti just needs time to bed in, but Klimala has been here for a while so he’s at a point where he should be starting games like these if he’s fit.

It all points to another striker coming in, so HITC’s report that Celtic have had a bid accepted for Trabzonspor striker Caleb Ekuban might be true after all.

They pointed out that Neil Lennon denied those rumours, but you rarely see a club acknowledge a transfer until it actually happens.
