Celtic’s Midweek Match at Pittodrie “only on Aberdeen TV as PPV” John Paul Taylor confirms

If you paid Premier Sports to watch yesterday’s Scottish Cup match at Ibrox and you plan to watch Celtic’s midweek match at Pittodrie in the Scottish Premiership then you’ll have to put your hand in your pocket yet again as this match is not being shown live on Sky Sports.

If you want to watch Aberdeen v Celtic on Wednesday evening you’ll have to only one legitimate option – subscribe to and pay Aberdeen TV for PPV. This has been confirmed this morning by Celtic FC SLO John Paul Taylor who is going to come back with more details.

Celtic tried and failed to get Premier Sport to allow yesterday’s Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox to be shown on the Pass to Paradise as some of the promised ‘Added Value’ for season ticket holders. But the subscription broadcaster was not interested, having entered into a similar deal before the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen last autumn. This time Premier Sports figured that the appeal of a big Glasgow Derby would bring in the revenue to justify their deal with the Scottish FA (note that Celtic had nothing to do with Premier having the rights yesterday, that was an SFA decision), so they knocked back Celtic’s bulk-buy request that would have allowed the game to be shown on the Pass to Paradise.

With the season over this meaningless end of season game is unlikely to attract much interest from Celtic supporters if we have to pay more money to watch. Surely Aberdeen can’t be expecting a huge rush of Celtic Fans putting their hands in their pockets this week and if they are they are going to be disappointed.

So surely it would make sense for Celtic to show this match on Pass to Paradise as a small token towards a support who has backed the club financially this season and has had precious little back, even before you think about the promised added value.

Aberdeen would surely be easy enough to deal with. Dominic McKay starts work today. This would be an easy call to make to start to mend the damage that the Celtic Board has caused this season.
