The Sun May Be Shining but for Celtic it’s Just Another Black Monday

Another black Monday…

And so our record this season remains intact. We have failed to land a telling blow on that lot, we have failed to win any important games and we have failed spectacularly to retain any of our trophies.

We are told the players sat in silence in the dressing room after yesterday’s match. Not sure what to make of that other than it kind of tells you the result was what they expected? How to describe our situation at the moment, Schitt’s Creek?

Neil Lennon paid the ultimate price and unfortunately John Kennedy will do likewise; any chance of him getting the job on a permanent basis has disappeared like one of Christie’s famous moon shots.

I was happy to give John Kennedy a bit of time to showcase what he can do. It looked for a few games that he was getting more out of the players and instilling some confidence. Unfortunately, they let him down big style yesterday.

The players are primarily to blame; you cannot blame the coach for the gilt edged chances we missed yesterday. However, John Kennedy picks the team and his failure to change things from the previous regime means that he is simply perpetuating the failure. Neil Lennon said the players were lacking confidence, John Kennedy tells us they are now lacking belief.

Nothing has changed. It’s not acceptable to copy what has gone before. Mr Sinatra may have had a few regrets but at least he did it his way.

What is John Kennedy seeing from these players in training? I don’t know but he has continually picked players who have shown nothing in recent matches and has left players on the bench when changes needed to be made. Both full backs offer nothing going forward or in defence, McGregor is way off his best, Christie contributed two thirds of nothing and I don’t have the words to describe Edouard’s performances this season, let alone yesterday. I could go in on but what’s the point?

For us, the season ended yesterday. We can’t win anything and we are assured of second place in the league (whoopee). Surely John Kennedy cannot continue to field the same loanees, the same players that want away, the same players that are leaving and the same players that are lacking belief?

For the love of God, give them and us a break.
