Champions League account remembers ‘night Celtic shocked the world’

The official Champions League TikTok account posted a short clip of the ‘night Celtic shocked the world’. Of course, this is referring to Celtic’s legendary match against a prime Barcelona side on the 7th of November 2012.

This was truly one of the most spectacular nights under the lights at Paradise. Celtic, with 27% possession and just 4 shots on target, defeated Barcelona in Celtic Park, with the likes of Messi, Iniesta, and Xavi dominating the midfield. Victor Wanyama opened the scoring with a first-half header from a Charlie Mulgrew corner. Tony Watt coming on to score Celtic’s second goal to put us 2-0 up against the Celtic really did shock the world that night. A long ball from Forster was met by the youngster who fired a shot beyond Victor Valdes.

Barca came to Celtic Park at the peak of their powers and an inspired performance from Fraser Forster kept Lionel Messi and co at bay. The Argentine would eventually strike deep into stoppage time but it was too late and the Scottish Champions would clinch a famous victory. The win would help progress Celtic towards a place in the Last 16.
