Championship side launch ambitious move for Celtic legend, could make Ibrox appearance

Ayr United have reportedly made a move to bring Scott Brown in as their manager. Last night, the Scottish Championship side earned a lucrative Fifth Round draw against Rangers at Ibrox meaning that they will net a six-figure sum for the gate.

As reported by Mail Sport, the Championship side are keen on making a move for the Celtic legend, who is out of work having departed his first managerial position at Fleetwood Town earlier this year. Now, the 38-year-old is reportedly considering the deal but might prefer another role in England.

It could be a baptism of fire for Brown with the chance for the ex-Celt to lead a team out at Ibrox, where he he still lives rent free amongst their support. Broony has said that he was eager to get back into the dugout as a manager after tasting the other side of the game. Whether he would be interested in Ayr’s gig in the unforgiving Championship remains to be seen.

Meanwhile for Brown, he will be continually linked with vacancies in Scotland and England but you would imagine that he will not rush back into something if it’s not right for him. The Honest Men’s gig might suit him but it would return him to Scottish football where the glare would be on him. The domineering midfielder on his day bowed out at Celtic after 620 appearances, 46 goals and 22 trophies in the Green and White.
