“Chelsea had Juranovic on the radar in the summer, still the case now” Podcaster Simon Phillips

A well-informed Chelsea blogger and podcaster has claimed that Josip Juranovic is on the radar of the club and has been since the summer transfer window. Simon Phillips of the Si & Dan Talk Chelsea podcast revealed on social media that during the last transfer period, sources at the Londoners had revealed that he was of interest.

They even claimed that he was brought up in discussions with the Hoops heirarchy in regard Ross Barkeley who was heavily linked with a move to Parkhead too. Whether or not this is true is up for debate but it certainly wouldn’t sound too far fetched. Josip has been great since he arrived on these shores and being a consistent pick for Croatia wouldn’t have gone unnoticed in circles down the road.

If sources did confirm this to Phillips then it would make sense that they would be looking more closely at him again after his recent exploits both at club and international level. A few interested parties would certainly make things interesting ahead of the post-Christmas player trading melee.

Nobody really knows for sure what will happen, if anything at all this January. But one thing is abundantly clear now: Josip Juranovic may be playing himself into a move away from Celtic Football Club. The question is: will any team have the gumption to put forward an offer that would be too good for Ange Postecoglou and the Hoops to turn down?

We shall see…Juranovic is not going to be short of admirers after the World Cup and Celtic will be in a fortunate position of looking at the transfer valuation spiral. Indeed that could accelerate even further this week with Juranovic two matches away from being a World Cup winner. Now that would be something extra special.

Meanwhile Josip Juranovic is currently, according to FIFA’s World Cup Team of the Week, the best right in World football…

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
