Chelsea tipped to be considering Juranovic as a ‘back-up’

Following Josip Juranovic’s spectacular performances at the World Cup, gossip about his imminent departure from Paradise has been growing. Reports show that Juranovic is drawing attention from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, most recently of which being Chelsea FC. Other clubs to have reportedly had their head turned by the Croatian full-back are Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Manchester United.

In a discussion with Give Me Sport, the Chelsea expert, Simon Phillips revealed that the massively rich club has shown great interest in the Celtic super-star, and is looking to add Juranovic to their squad. Phillips said…

“Chelsea’s new owners like him already and they know about him. When it comes to signing a back-up option or competition for Reece James, I do expect his name to come back up.”

However, Phillips does let on that Chelsea’s ambition with Juranovic may be as a back-up option for the club, to sit on the bench and receive little gametime, which is a pretty underwhelming move for Josip. With other massive clubs, with deep pockets vying for him, he should have plenty of options to find a better fit, where he will hopefully be a prominent name in the starting line-up.

In anycase, with the potential big-money move for the Croatian, it should be good news for Celtic as they will be set to make a decent profit on Juranovic.

Ange Postecoglou though revealed today that Celtic have received no offers for any player and that includes Juranovic.
