“Right now, there’s nothing. Zero. Zip. Nada. Nothing going on,” Ange Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou has closed down all the transfer talk involving players leaving by emphatically telling the mainstream media that there have been no offers for any of his players and that includes Josip Juranovic and Stephen Welsh, amid ongoing transfer speculation.

On the Welsh ‘story’ this week, The Celtic Star didn’t cover it as a sand-alone story as it was clearly clickbait nonsense. More likely is the considerable and growing interest in signing Josip Juranovic and you could hardly blame the player of he cashes in on his brilliant showing at the World Cup by securing a life-changing move.

Ange Postecoglou was asked about transfer speculation surrounding both players at today’s media conference ahead of tomorrow evening’s Scottish Premiership match against Livingston at Celtic Park.

“Josip’s not back yet. He had a great World Cup. Absolutely, he had a great World Cup, he was brilliant. Credit to him. He’s got something now that he’ll have forever,” the Celtic manager said.

“He represented our football club really well, as did all the boys in the World Cup. He’s got a week off now and he’ll be back training early next week and ready to go.”

Ange added, mentioning Celtic CEO Michael Nicholson: “All this speculation, let me tell you right now; we don’t have an offer for any player. People can talk about offers and clubs wanting them but I can’t spend my time chasing shadows or what’s in the press every morning, because I’d be spending my whole day talking to players.

“As I keep saying to people, what I see is what’s before me every day here at training. If there’s an issue or players have things put in front of them about their future, I’m sure they’ll come and see me and Michael will speak to their representatives.

“But right now, there’s nothing. Zero. Zip. Nada. Nothing going on.”

Ange also spoke about having different types of players available each position, with each being able to offer different threats to the opposition, referencing his wide players and strikers.

The same though can be said for central defenders and while Celtic have added Yuki Kobayashi, Carl Starfelt spoke yesterday about intense competition of places being expected at a club like Celtic, so a new addition to the squad doesn’t necessarily mean that a current squad player is going to be sold.
