Chris Sutton Made An Honouree Aldi Manager After Rangers Lidl Jibe

Celtic hero Chris Sutton is never shy in winding up supporters of the blue half of Glasgow. On Monday night, he was part of a show at the Hydro in which himself, Henrik Larsson, John Hartson and Martin O’Neill spoke about their Celtic memories. The bulk of the Seville team were also present, along with 10,000 Celtic fans.

Sutton sarcastically thanked the Hydro for letting him into the venue that night, remarking that “not all Glasgow establishments” afford him the same privilege. The Englishman was of course recently denied access to Ibrox for a second time, when working for BT Sport. As such, the media company adjusted their plans to broadcast from the studio at Celtic Park. Sutton continued his joke against the Govan club by saying that “being banned from Ibrox is like being banned from Lidl.”

The former Celtic star’s comments got a laugh from more than just the audience. Indeed, other supermarkets heard the news and Aldi posted a tweet (below) stating: “We’re not saying we agree, but Chris Sutton has just been made an honouree Aldi Manager.”

As ever, Sutton had to have a say on matters and he duly replied by jokingly thanking them, but insisting he is “a big fan really.”
