Christie believes that top class opposition is perfect pre-season preparation

CELTIC are currently preparing for the new season with a trip to France in the next few days ahead of the new season. The Scottish Champions will play Nice, Lyon and PSG in the glamour friendlies and Ryan Christie has said that the tough preparations are the perfect way to get themselves ready for the beginning of the league campaign in August.

Speaking to the Celtic website, Christie said that the club will be in the best possible position to win 10IAR by playing the French trio in Lyon. PSG put 9 goals past Le Harve, sending a warning that the game will be extremely tough but Christie is of the opinion that this is the best way to get ready for the potential historic season.

“These games are definitely going to be tough. But that’s the level we see ourselves as a club and a team so these games will be great for us.

“It’s good to test yourself against the best at every chance you get. The friendlies will be the first proper games for us and we’ll take a lot out of those games. We’re not going in against a lower league team or anything like that. The opposition we’ll be facing are of a very high level and that’ll definitely help get us back into match fitness quicker.”

Christie was one of the standouts as the club won 9IAR, with 19 goals and 16 assists in 43 appearances, the 25-year-old was in sparkling form and will be hoping to continue where he left off when football resumes.

Celtic begin the league campaign with Hamilton Accies at Paradise and face four qualifiers to make it to the Champions League group stages.
