Jonjoe Kenny was finally announced at 9:30pm on Deadline Day, with little over two hours of the window remaining; and although Celtic fans are happy with the quality of his signing, the majority are baffled as to why only a loanee has been brought in rather than a permanent fixture for the inevitable replacement of Jeremie Frimpong.
Kenny, 23, joins on a six-month loan from Everton, having played four Premier League games this season. He spent the entirety of last season on loan at German side Schalke 04, where he played 30 games in a season marred by COVID-19, and shone in a lacklustre side.
The main consensus is that the loan has only been sanctioned due to Lennon being likely to be sacked in the future; and any potential future manager may not endorse Kenny once his loan period end – although, Kenny is a more than suitable replacement for the young Dutchman, having already completed a season in the Bundesliga where Frimpong will now ply his trade.
The comments to the announcement of Kenny’s signing were exemplary of the current fan welfare; many jumping to welcome the Scouser but also continuing to throw insults at Lennon in the same instance.

This is fairly brutal and somewhat to be expected. Comments on the club video of Celtic announcing Jonjoe Kenny loan signing. https://t.co/n8Jo0aIoaV

Welcome to Celtic Jonjoe Kenny, the only thing you will be learning is how to cover for a centre back, and that will be on the job training

Actual feel so sorry for Jonjoe Kenny. His love of football will have been drained out of him by the time this loan ends.

On any given transfer window, Jonjoe Kenny is a cracking signing, unfortunately he's going to be managed by an absolute balloon who will ensure we never see the best of him

However, there were some genuinely nice comments which have somewhat endeared the Evertonian to the Parkhead faithful, who according to the Daily Record, is a Bhoy himself.
Why Everton didn’t see to use Jonjoe Kenny after his brilliant spell in Germany I’ll never know but for Celtic he’s a superb Frimpong replacement https://t.co/BHnYDU87sG

The replies to this are needed unfortunately.
All the best to Kenny, he joins at a poisonous time & I'm sure he knows that but let's hope he does well for us. https://t.co/jQmwd7Ynn1
