Club statement after billionaire’s boy takes aim at Celtic support

Remarkable events at Parkhead today as the Celtic AGM which was brought to a premature conclusion by club Chairman Peter Lawwell after Dermot Desmond’s unrepentant note was read out by his son, Ross…

Speaking for his old man, Ross accused the Celtic supporters currently protesting  of “shameful and bullying” behaviour and this was met with jeers and catcalls. The club then released a statement – this time during business hours – which was titled ‘Celtic Football Club statement’ and it reads as follows:

‘Regrettably, due to the continuing disruptive conduct of a small number of individuals preventing the orderly management of today’s AGM, we were required to conclude the meeting earlier than we had planned.

Such conduct is completely unacceptable and hugely disappointing, and while today’s events are completely outwith our control, clearly we regret the impact on our shareholders who were deprived of the opportunity to take part in an orderly and constructive meeting.

Chairman Peter Lawwell called a poll on the resolutions at the end of the meeting, the results of which will be made available once counted and verified by our registrar, Computershare.

Should any shareholders wish to raise a question, they can do so by contacting our investor relations department and we will endeavour to respond to any queries.’

And the video that was shown at today’s AGM followed on from this short statement. You can watch that below…

  1. Disgraceful statement from the son of the majority shareholder, that family believes they own Celtic and only their views and ‘lack of vision’ is all that matters, the board had a chance to bring fans together and move forward, instead they chose to level absurd allegations and will continue to disregard the wide range of Celtic supporters groups involved in the Fans Collective, shameful from entitled billionaires
