Comings and Goings, Two Celtic targets ‘jet in’ tomorrow, as the Exodus begins

BOTH Timothy Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo are expected to ‘jet in’ to Glasgow tomorrow to complete their moves to Celtic. The 18 year old American international will join Celtic from Paris Saint Germain on a six month loan deal as this site exclusively revealed on Christmas Eve.

The Ivory Coast striker will be here to discuss personal terms with Celtic and assuming that Celtic can reach an agreement with his current club, the transfer could be completed in time to allow Bayo to join Weah on the flight to Dubai this weekend as Brendan Rodgers takes his squad to the winter training camp.

Quite a few current Celtic players could be away before that Emirates flight takes off from Glasgow Airport. Jack Hendry looks like he is heading to England on loan with both Portsmouth and Sunderland interested in taking the former Dundee central defender, who has failed to impress in the Hoops.

The straw that broke the camel’s back as far as Brendan Rodgers was concerned was his abysmal performance in Salzburg in the second half of the Europa League match. Hendry has not been seen since anywhere near the Celtic first team.

And another arrival from the dreadful winter window in 2018, Marvin Compper is also set to leave the club. Compper played for 81 minutes against Morton in the Scottish Cup in March before completely dropping out of the picture. Brendan Rodgers was quizzed about the German at the Celtic AGM in November and took full responsibility for the signing.

Compper popped up doing some television work around the time Celtic played his former club RB Leipzig in the Europa League and indicated that he wanted to end his time at Celtic come January as he knows that he will not feature again.

Scott Allan is surely going to get his move to Hibs in this window. Neil Lennon is desperately short of options and signing the midfielder who seems to have always been at his best in a Hibs shirt, would make sense. Certainly the Easter Road faithful are lobbying for the move to happen and Celtic won’t be hard to deal with – even after the summer stand-off between the clubs over John McGinn.

Calvin Miller has been re-called early from his season long loan spell at Dundee and is expected to provide the back up from Kieran Tierney from the rest of this season.

Dorus de Vries is another player who could see his current contract paid up and there is talk that Emilio Izaguirre could be moved on in this window, with one report linking him with a move to Turkey.

Izaguirre performed well in the recent home games but found things more difficult at both Easter Road and Pittodrie, where he seemed to have taken the blame for conceding a penalty – we’ll say it again it was a Willie Collum ‘Honest Mistake’ and not the only one in that game.

Indeed when you roll them over to John Beaton’s shocking performance at Ibrox, you start to see a pattern emerging. Expect more of the same when the league programme starts up again later this month.

Clare Whyte, the SFA Compliance Officer, should be back at her desk tomorrow…
