Confirmed: Celtic draw Kilmarnock in League Cup Semi Final

Celtic have been drawn against Kilmarnock in the semi-final of the Premier Sports Cup. After the game at Ibrox tonight, Kenny Miller pulled the holders out of the draw to face Derek McInnes’ Killie.

Celtic sealed their place in the draw with an impressive 4-0 win at Fir Park. Liel Abada hit a brace while Japanese duo Reo Hatate and Kyogo scored the other two. Rangers overcame Dundee through an early goal from Steven Davis, albeit the final whistle was met with boos from the home support. Meanwhile, Jim Goodwin’s Aberdeen beat Ian McCall’s Partick Thistle 4-1 at Pittodrie to seal their place in the draw with Killie completing the semi finalists.

Rangers will face Aberdeen at Hampden, likely the Sunday game, with the winners facing up against either Celtic or Killie.

The games will be played on the weekend of 14th/15th January at Hampden. The teams will be vying for place in the showpiece final at the end of February, with the game set to take place on Sunday 26th.

Last season, Ange picked up his first silverware as Celtic manager with a win over Hibernian at Hampden. Goals from Kyogo saw Celtic come from behind at the National Stadium to lift the trophy. It was a reward after a testing month and acted as a catalyst for the team to hit new heights after the New Year.
