Copenhagen star given three game ban for incident with policeman vs Celtic

It’s always a lottery when it comes to UEFA and dishing out fines or bans, as they have a fairly skewed view on what deserves a big punishment.

Racism tends to provoke a slap on the wrist, but they start to take things seriously if something might affect their ability to make money.

It was always going to be interesting to see what happened to Copenhagen’s Michael Santos after he shoved a policeman over while celebrating a goal at Celtic Park earlier this year.

As reported by Eurosport, the Uruguyan striker has been given a three game ban for assaulting a policeman.

At the time, The BBC reported that Police Scotland had charged him with an alleged assault on the officer, but it doesn’t sound like he will face any more legal trouble in connection to this.

Copenhagen went through after winning the tie so it does sound like he would be banned for the next round, but it’s possible that the Europa League won’t be played to a finish so that should carry on to next season.
