Good to see our Bhoy Kwon making a good start at the Buddies. Let’s hope he keeps it up…
Celtic’s South Korean midfielder Kwon made his debut for St Mirren yesterday in the Paisley Saints one nil win in the Scottish cup over Queen of the South.
Kwon last week completed his loan move to Stephen Robinsons side until the end of the season, and by all accounts he had a decent debut as St Mirren booked their place in the next round of the Scottish Cup. Admittedly it was against a side from league one, but it would have been a tough afternoon for him all the same.
It would have been strange for him to adapt to new surroundings and new teammates in such a small space of time, but he put his head down and got on with the job, and that bodes well for the future. There will be tougher obstacles for Kwon to overcome in the coming months, but hopefully he smashes it and shows everyone why Celtic signed him.
He will need to be consistent, that’s the challenge for the big South Korean. Starting next week against theRangers. If he puts in a decent shift against the second best side in the country, then it’s a big step forward in his development.

Quite impressed with Kwon Hyeok-kyu on debut for St Mirren.
Celtic loanee clearly eager to impress. Looked good technically, comfortable off both feet & pressed well.
Darren O’Dea in attendance to watch him. Robinson planned on giving him 60 but played full game pic.twitter.com/pFRJIRZK4K

Kwon had a successful debut for St. Mirren today, initiating and completing the entire game in their 1-0 Scottish Cup victory against Queen of the South. The 22-year-old showcased a strong performance in the midfield, marking a promising beginning to his time in Paisley! pic.twitter.com/I0y5nNqUGD
