Deadline Day: Oostende for Urhoghide as Osaze follows the Jack Hendry route to first team football

Celtic may not be expecting to do much, if indeed any, incoming transfer business on the final day of the transfer window, with SkySports Celtic supporting correspondent Anthony Joseph taking to social media to advise –

“In terms of Celtic, I’ve been told not to expect incomings, unless someone becomes available who’s too good to miss out on. Could see some fringe/younger players heading out – more likely on loan.”

It’s likely Anthony Joseph is just covering all bases in case Celtic produce a late rabbit from the hat in terms of a new signing, however Ange Postecoglou made it very clear in Friday’s press conference prior to Celtic’s late, late show against Dundee United that in terms of moves coming in Celtic had completed their business.

However, the Celtic manager was clear he was keen to get some younger players the gametime they may not be getting during the business end to Celtic’s season. One such player is Osaze Urhoghide, who Lubo98 of this parish advised last night was nearing a move to Belgian side KV Oostende.

Now transfer specialist Ekrem Konur has confirmed that particular loan deal looks as good as done, with Urhoghide heading to Oostende on a loan deal until the end of the season.

‘🔜Osaze Urhoghide will transfer to KV Ostende on loan until the end of the season. #CelticFC’

Urhoghide is highly rated at Celtic and there has been interest in a permanent transfer for the player. However, Ange Postecoglou sees great potential in the player who performed brilliantly against Betis in the Europa League and only a loan deal would be considered.

The player was wanted by Dundee manager James McPake and by former Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson now managing League 1 side Morecambe, and there was further interest in the player rumoured to have been from Italian club Verona.

Instead, it looks like KV Oostende will be the destination for the remainder of the season for Osaze Urhoghide, and after the experience Jack Hendry had at the Belgian club and the improvements he made, this move makes a lot of sense for both Urhoghide and Celtic.

And there’s that Celtic Rumours tweet from yesterday hinting at one more coming in today, despite what Ange was saying at the end of last week.

So we’re in for a reasonably interesting deadline day after all…stay tuned!
