Shane Duffy’s tenure at Celtic Park was highly lauded by many when he signed. A boyhood Hoop – who had excelled in the top tiers of English football for the best part of a decade – was always going to be welcomed with open arms to Celtic Park, and alongside Kristoffer Ajer and Christopher Jullien was expected to be a key component in the heart of the Celtic defence in his big-money loan from Brighton.
Yet, things just haven’t quite clicked for the Derry-born defender in his spell in Glasgow. Substandard performances in the Europa League and in the Scottish Premiership itself means that fans have been less than impressed with Duffy. This sense of bereavement was heightened in tonight’s lacklustre 1-1 draw at home to Hibernian, in which Duffy played a big part in the equaliser. After Conor Hazard failed to deal with a cross, Duffy inadvertently tapped the ball straight to Kevin Nisbet, with the Hibernian striker gleefully accepting Duffy’s gift.
Celtic fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration at the centre-backs involvement with the late leveller, with some calling Duffy ‘disastrous’.
Does Shane Duffy’s pass count as an assist?

Shane Duffy adds to his impressive number of assists this season as the big haddy squaffs his clearance straight to Nisbet who blasts home an injury time equaliser from six yards. Chapeau Agent Duffy👍#CELHIB

Shane Duffy has been a disastrous signing by Celtic.
He is now completely devoid of confidence, and almost everything he touches goes wrong.
For someone with such a decent reputation, and the loan fee and wages it has taken to get him, it is really quite bizarre.
A liability.— JHC (@JHC17626935) January 11, 2021
I don’t change my views just reconfirm my thoughts:
Shane Duffy, Neil Lennon and Scott Brown need to leave our club.— ۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗۗ Ismaila Soro* CSC 🏆 (@DBestseventy2) January 11, 2021
Shane Duffy is hopeless

The result leaves Celtic on extremely thin ice, with a huge points total to resurrect – and with mistakes like this from Duffy, it won’t be any easier.
