‘Disgraceful manipulation’ – Sky Sports accused of a completely invented ‘translation’

A SPANISH speaking Celtic Supporters Club has taken Sky Sports to task for their translation of the Alfredo Morelos interview that was broadcast yesterday.

“We are available here in Alicante to help you guys out with the subtitle issues you seem to be having at Sky there, or was the overly emotive and almost completely invented ‘translation’ of what Morelos was saying intentional on your part? Disgraceful manipulation,” Celticalicante has posted on social media.

The same account then provided a more accurate translation service on both Twitter and Facebook and this has been widely shared and poses questions for Sky Sports who appear to be playing along with a sinister game that is no doubt the work of sinister PRs in the background of the Scottish game.

“A humble attempt to get the story across on Twitter. Thanks for the positive feedback, everyone,” Celticalicante tweeted.

Another Csc based in Spain added their own thoughts. Madrid Emerald Celtic Supporters Club had this to say:

“Just how dumb are @ScotlandSky? Do they not know that there’s other Spanish speakers in the world that’d be able to check if the English subtitles match what Morelos actually said?

Or maybe they were attempting one of those parody translations that you see doing the rounds?”

“Please check out our Facebook Page for the verbatim Sky Morelos interview translation. RT, comment, share as you see appropriate,” Celticalicante also posted, widening the proper translation to Facebook and asking for support in sharing the truth of the matter.

Why would Sky distort the interview with Morelos rather than just translate what the player was saying?

Last week after the outrageous personal attack on Leigh Griffiths on Sky Sports during their broadcast of the game at Kilmarnock, Celtic decided to write to the broadcaster to complain about the former Rangers star’s comments.

That matter was then brushed under the carpet but it seems that the agenda is there and in clear view. Some Celtic Supporters are busy emailing Ofcom to register complaints – good luck with that one. What re really need to do is ask ourselves as a support why are we ploughing money into their coffers. An unsubscribe campaign is surely worth considering?

Meanwhile Steven Gerrard has also been talking to Sky Sports in what Scottish Sun this morning refers to as a “rare interview”.

Gerrard apparently believes that it is time for Scottish football to unite to help kick racism out of our game and that is certainly something we can agree with him on. Racism, that’s all forms of racism, have to be kicked out of our game once and for all.

“We always support all of our players on and off the pitch if they feel they are suffering abuse,” the Rangers manager apparently says in this interview. “We will support any players on the end of it at our stadium.

“We all have to eradicate racism from our game, it is embarrassing in this day and age.
Alfredo brings so much to the league and he is such an exciting player to watch.”
