‘Jack Hendry has torn his medial collateral ligament,’ Melbourne City confirm

JACK HENDRY is likely to miss the majority of the Australian season after Melbourne City confirmed that the on-loan Celtic defender tore his medial collateral ligament in the defeat to Adelaide United at the weekend.

Hendry got off to a great start on his debut for Melbourne and was included in the A-League’s team of the Week. But the big guy can never seem to get a break and this latest set-back is going to be a tough one for him to overcome. We certainly wish him all the best as he sets about the ling road to full fitness.

“Melbourne City FC can confirm defender Jack Hendry has torn his medial collateral ligament and is set for an extended period on the sidelines.

“Hendry suffered the injury in the final moments of Saturday’s loss to Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium and scans on Monday revealed the Celtic loanee had fully ruptured the ligament.

“The defender will go under the knife on Tuesday as he looks to complete his recovery at CFA Melbourne and make a return in the latter stages of the season.

“Melbourne City FC would like to wish Jack the best in his recovery,” the club’s statement reads.

Hendry was one of a number of signings made by Brendan Rodgers that proved to be underwhelming. However the former Dundee defender never hid in the Hoops and turned out to play when others around him in the dressing room, refused to pull on the Hoops.

He said he’s not given up on his Celtic dream yet, and he still has two more years on his contract, but for now it’s all about the months if rehab work that he’ll need before he plays again.
