Lennon Delivers Frimpong Injury Update as Taylor is First Choice

Neil Lennon has given Celtic fans a massive boost ahead of the Europa League Last 32 matches versus Copenhagen later this month by confirming that Jeremie Frimpong will be returning to training early next week.

At his pre-match media conference ahead of Celtic’s trip to Motherwell, Lennon gave a positive update regarding Frimpong, who has been since the horror challenge from Killie’s Power in the 3-1 win at Rugby Park last month.

“We’re hoping he’ll be back in training on Monday.

On the other side of the pitch, in the left back berth, Neil Lennon has confirmed that Greg Taylor is first choice for the Scottish Champions. Taylor struggled to oust Bolingoli after joining from Kilmarnock in a £2m deal but has since proven that he is the best left back option at the club.

Boli’s had a bit of time out and he’ll be back in contention for the squad.

“Greg’s played very well and, at the minute, he’s first in line to play. We’ve got competition in all positions.”

Taylor has proven to Lennon that he is a reliable defending option, even if Jonny Hayes might be the preferred attacking option in a 3-5-2. Hayes will he hoping that his deal at the Scottish Champions is extended beyond this summer as he’s proven himself to be an important squad player.

You have to feel sorry for Taylor who was being instructed to continue crossing balls into the box despite a stubborn Hamilton back line appearing content to sit in deep and clear anything that comes.

Taylor, did however, look comfortable overlapping and joining in with combinations and running in behind. It is testament to his work rate and attitude that he’s quietly waited in the background, biding his time and waiting for his chance.
