Double Cruciate Blow! Terrible news for Arzani and Kouassi as Forrest and Rodgers win awards

CELTIC have suffered a double blow with both Daniel Arzani and Eboue Kouassi both had their scan results back and it’s bad news for the two young Celtic stars. Brendan Rodgers, who today was awarded the Manager of the Month for October, confirmed that both player have cruciate injuries.

And James Forrest was also named as the sponsor’s Player of the Month for October.

“Unfortunately, it looks like cruciate injuries for both Daniel Arzani and Eboue Kouassi. It’s disappointing for them because they’ve been working hard to get into the team.”

Kouassi landed awkwardly in the semi-final at Murrayfield and was reluctant to go off after getting his chance to start in the absence of Scott Brown.

Arzani made his Celtic debut when he came on as a second half substitute at Dens Park on Wednesday. He looked lively, set up Kieran Tierney for a tap-in (which he missed!) then went over on his knee and was stretched off.

Swelling delayed the scan for the young Australian but now both players have had their results back and the news in bleak to say the least.

On a happier subject the Celtic manager was full of praise for October’s Player of the Month, James Forrest.

“He’s been brilliant. His level of performance, really over the past few years has been great. We have a philosophy of how we defend and how we attack and James really buys into that. He absolutely loves playing for Celtic.”

The Irishman seems more relaxed and well he should as the team are now firing on all cylinders after a less than impressive start to the season form-wise. Brendan is pleased with the way his players have responded to this challenge.

“It was important that we stayed calm. I realise I’m at a huge club so every result will be heavily analysed but we’ve done well to give a big reaction.

“As long as we continue to focus on our work and our play, we can always make that better. We’ve certainly put together some really good performances.”

James Forrest also spoke to the media at Lennoxtown ahead of tomorrow’s top of the league clash with Hearts at Celtic Park. The winger reflected the positive mood in the given the recent impressive showings and goalscoring sprees.

“It’s been really positive the past few games. The goals have been spread out amongst the team too so now we have to keep our performances up,” Forrest said.

On his own personal form, that was recognised by today’s award, the Celtic winger is pleased with how things are going.

“It’s been great to score a few goals. As long as I can create for the team and the team benefits, I’ll be happy.”

“It started with the St.Johnstone game then kicked on with the semi-final and Wednesday’s result. We need to keep our levels up for the upcoming games.”

And Forrest confirmed that he had had a conversation with Ryan Christie about whether the former Inverness Caley star’s effort was over the line for Celtic’s second goal at Murrayfield.

“We a had a little joke about it. Fair play to him, he’s come on and had a hand in all three goals and has really cemented his place in the team.”

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s game against Hearts, Forrest expects a tough challenge from the league leaders.

“We know it’s going to be a hard game. They’ve started well and are top of the league. It will be a difficult game and we’ll prepare for it.”
