‘Dreams do come true’, Frimpong celebrates 9IAR

THE 2019/20 season concluded with Celtic being declared Champions with a 13 point lead, resulting in Neil Lennon’s side winning 9-in-a-row. With a variety of impress performances across the board with Odsonne Edouard, Callum McGregor, Scott Brown and Ryan Christie just some of the standouts as Celtic celebrate (at least) a double. The breakthrough performer of this season was definitely the energetic Jeremie Frimpong.

Frimpong arrived as an unknown and made his debut versus Partick Thistle in the League Cup, earning the MOTM accolade. Despite appearing to be just a development signing initially, Frimpong moved on to become the first choice right-back at the club following Hatem Abd Elhamed’s injury.

Frimpong’s attacking performances were as if he was a winger, taking on the opposition left back, providing an overlap and constantly threatening in the final third. Meanwhile, at the other end, he was convincing in defence.

Frimpong took to Instagram to celebrate his first title as a player, his second trophy this year after the league cup win in December. The youngster’s caption included the caption ‘Dreams do come true’.

Frimpong was sent off in the League Cup final, despite playing well amidst a lethargic Celtic performance. He will enjoy this title, even if – like us – he would rather be celebrating on the pitch.

It will be exciting to see Frimpong’s progress next season as he will undoubtedly get stronger. A humble and hungry talent, who offers so much across the park – Frimpong has been one of the star’s of this season.
